Day 1: Arrival - Blue Lagoon
- Wind Down at the Blue Lagoon: After arrival, you will be taken the Blue Lagoon for a natural steam bath which is within 45 minutes away from the capital city. The Blue Lagoon is one of Iceland's most popular attractions, and it's little wonder as to why. The beautiful milky-blue water is unlike anything else found on earth and starkly contrasts with the surrounding black lava fields and creeping gray moss. The temperature of the Blue Lagoon is a consistent 102 F (39 C) year-round, making it the perfect bathing temperature. The lagoon is on the Reykjanes Peninsula in southwest Iceland, renowned for its barren landscapes and cone-shaped volcanoes.
Day 2: Seljalandsfoss Waterfalls - Reynisfjara Beach
- Seljalandsfoss Waterfalls: In the morning, you will be picked up at your hotel and take to to Seljalandsfoss waterfalls, which is on the way to your final destination of the day, a town named Vik. Seljalandsfoss is one of the most breathtaking waterfalls in South Iceland with a whooping 196 ft (60 m) cascade. The waterfall is loved by travelers because you can actually walk behind it! Step behind the curtain of water and take a picture at Iceland’s South Coast from a completely new perspective.
- Reynisfjara Beach: Next, you will head to Vik and visit the Reynisfjara Beach. The Reynisfjara black sand beach is one of the best places in Iceland for landscape photography. Situated on the south coast near the small fishing village of Vík í Mýrdal, it has been voted one of the top non-tropical beaches in the world and is well-known for being photogenic throughout the year. In fact, Iceland's black sand beaches are everywhere, but Vik's black sand beach is listed as one of the ten most beautiful beaches in the world by American Island Magazine. Probably because there is not only a black sand beach here, but also a lava mountain. On one side of the beach, there are strange stones stacked like stairs, and on the other side is the sea that constantly beats the stormy waves. Iceland has many active volcanoes, and the "sand" of the black beach comes from volcanic lava.
Day 3: Jökulsárlón - Dimond Beach- Aurora Hunting
- Jökulsárlón: On day 3, you will spend some time in the car and head to the most beautiful glacier lagoon Jökulsárlón. Jökulsárlón is a glacial lagoon, bordering Vatnajökull National Park in southeastern Iceland. Its still, blue waters are dotted with icebergs from the surrounding Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier, part of larger Vatnajökull Glacier. The Glacier Lagoon flows through a short waterway into the Atlantic Ocean, leaving chunks of ice on a black sand beach. In winter, the fish-filled lagoon hosts hundreds of seals. Taking an boat ride on the glacial lake to watch the floating ice of various shapes is a major feature of the tour. There is a tour on the shore where you can swim the lake. The tour time is about 1 hour, and there will be a guide explaining it in English and knocking down a piece of ice from a frozen lake for you to taste.
